The photo above (Thank you Jim Jeffery) is from the dedication of our Santa Biblias on Sunday. It was a day of joy as we continued our celebration of World Communion Month and completed our observance of Latino/a Heritage Month.
There are two major community events taking place at LABC this week with the Justice Jam focusing on transportation on Wednesday evening at 6:30 and the Halloween Party and Parade on Saturday morning at 10:30. Please participate as you are able.
My sermon on Sunday will be “Unshamed.” Our central text will be Joel 2: 27b – “And my people will never again be put to shame.” I will make the point that in a world in which many good people are put to shame the work of God, the work of grace, is often the work of undoing that shame.
Sunday’s Forum will be led by Allison, who will share a video of her direct action engagement in Washington D.C. this summer “Rise Against Racism: Counter Christians United for Israel.” Allison was part of the leadership team for this action in solidarity with Palestinians seeking justice.
The Reverend Carolyn Matthews will present “The Music of the Civil Rights Movement” at 12:45 as part of our Creating Worship series. All are invited even if you have not attended previous gatherings in this series.
