The 29th Annual Anne Anderson Memorial Hunger Walk will take place following worship this Sunday.  As Ally told the kids in her Children’s Sermon two Sundays ago “It is wear your shorts and tennis shoes so you are ready to go Sunday” as well.  The Hunger Walk is one of our signature events.  It serves to define and describe us as involved, active, caring, concerned, friendly and united. The beneficiaries of this year’s walk are Alameda County Food Bank, Berkeley Food and Housing Project, Harbor House House, Open Door Mission, St. Mary’s Center and the Lakeshore Fellowship Fund. All are long time partners in service and caring.

My sermon on Sunday will be “Of Singing Mice and Hunger Walks.”  The central Scripture will be 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 in which Paul notes the significance of unseen realities. Indeed, just because something is unseen does not mean that it does not matter or that it is of little significance.  Sunday will also be Stan Fong’s first Sunday as our organist. Thank you again Marian. Welcome Stan.
