Dear Lakeshore,

Our month long emphasis on creation care continues  on May 17  with   Bike to Church Sunday. The Department of Social Concerns is sponsoring the Coffee Hour, there will be a Quarterly Meeting of the Congregation following worship and our monthly Stand and Sing for Justice will take place on Mandana Green at 2:00.

My sermon is titled “Guardians and Gardeners” and will be taken from Joel 2:18-27. In this text the prophet tells the  people that they, along with the land, will experience the  mercy of God,  perceive the forgiveness of the Creator, in the bounty of the harvest. The prophet’s words are, “The threshing floors shall be full of grain, the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.”

As Guardians and Gardeners of the good earth we fulfill our role as beings created in the image of good and we are graced by tender mercies of both Creator and Creation.
